Fashion tip
Next time you go boating, wear a shirt with a collar and board shorts. Thanks to John Kerry for this fashion tip.

Drudge has the siren blaring–the Kobe case will be dropped by the prosecutors. I wonder what the costs compare to the OJ legeal defense… We could start to form a price list for rich people getting off for various types of crime.
Want to murder? Well that’s $10,000,000. If you don’t want to drop that much for one night, try a rape, it’s only $2,000,000.
For the past week or two I have not had my RSS reader on for longer than a few minutes. This is a first for me in quite some time (probably a few years). My life was/is too busy to have the din of RSS compete with the off-blog life. I know this will be shocking to some people, but favorites like Kottke still exist in HTML form–I just visit every few days and see what the cool kids are up to.
How do I get my news? Well for telecom, which seems to be a large part of my day, I have dozens of PRs sent to me every day and have bookmarks to telecom news wires/sites. For world news I check CNN and the DrudgeReport inbetween my telecom wires. I am more productive without RSS.
I’ll give it another whirl in a few weeks, to see if I am missing anything.
Sony’s favorite metal band, Lamb of God, has a new CD out today–Ashes of the Wake [iTMS]. I don’t know how an actual tough band got onto freaking Sony, but the benefit is the CD costs $8.99 at BestBuy and the recording is great. If you like things that go chugga chugga and put some fear in your boots, check it out. I have posted one of the songs I like the most (the siren in the background about 4:30 is such a nice touch, it’s worth a listen just for that):
You can of course listen to other selected cuts at the above linked iTunes Music Store.
Here’s my version of last night’s VMAs…
Vote
Hey are you going to vote yet?
If you don’t vote at least buy something from our ads, but seriously you should vote.
I am Puff Daddy and if you don’t vote I want you to die.
Alright, well you should really vote but here’s an off key performance by a band/artist we marketed you to like
Done.
Drudge is reporting:
“Bush will give his acceptance speech at Madison Square Garden next week from a small circular stage in a sea of thousands of delegates and other guests…”
Just in case you don’t get it–he’s a man of the people. While it’s a great move (makes Kerry look like even more of an elitist), something a little more subtle would have been nice. If they could somehow bring “the ranch” to Madison Square, it would so happen.
As we get closer to the election, the race is starting to get interesting. 527s are where the action is at… The swifties deserve a medal for underground PR. Out of no where (why use PR News Wire when you have the DrudgeReport?) the group of vets has amassed over 7,000 media mentions in the last few weeks. This smashes the much better funded and promoted MoveOn crew and their sub-3,000 showing.
I’m going to be helping Om Malik bring back VoIP Daily. It went into hibernation a while back, but since I always have my nose in telecom news wires (from the MobileTracker scooping), and VoIP is really hitting strong we think it can be better than ever. Before too long we’ll have our own site, but for the time being it’s an extension of GigaOm.
Just in case you are out of the loop, VoIP stands for Voice Over IP and is simply telephony over the internet. It’s hot–AT&T just bet the house on it and just yesterday leader Vonage raised over $100M more in VC.
Just posted my N-Gage QD review. Nice phone, even better price. I haven’t sold it yet, so if you want it let me know. It will probably be on eBay by the end of the week.
The next review will be the Sony Ericsson K700i. No complaints besides sad battery life (something has to power that screen!).
I haven’t been able to snag a copy of Unfit for Command yet (local book sellers swore it wasn’t a liberal conspiracy and was just a supply side problem…) but the reviews on Amazon are interesting. Currently the page sports this nice plain-english warning:
Important note from Amazon.com: We’ve decided to suspend our normal customer review policies and rules for this title. For example, we usually prohibit ad hominem attacks. That policy in particular seems to be incompatible with presidential election year politics. Therefore, short of obscenities, reviews on this book are now a free-for-all. We take no responsibility for the following discussion. Aren’t presidential election years great? Have fun!
Wow! It’s democracy in reviews. The book is rated 4/5 with over 900 reviews. I have a feeling at least 50% of the reviewers haven’t read the book.
I tried to find another example of this and came up empty. President Clinton’s book doesn’t have it, but nobody really cares about that title anymore (it’s longer than the Bible and not nearly as interesting… And the Bible has the Book of Numbers).
