Handy to know for those of us scared to consume expired goods
From time to time articles appearing on Forbes.com show up on my telecom newswire. The design of Forbes.com isn’t great, but I’ve seen worse. But since yesterday when I go to an article’s page I hear a woman talking about some new features on the site! Are we back in 1998 when it’s ok to tie unrequested audio into a page? This is insane. Forbes sucks.
After a little bit of speakers off investigation it appears to be an advertisement for forbes.com, some new feature called Forbes Attaché. It’s a Flash file with audio. There is a small pause button, but it’s hard to see when you load the page because you don’t know where the audio is coming from. How about you make it a play button instead, if I care about some new feature on the Forbes site I can hit play.
I have written off reading anything at Forbes until this is changed.
Here’s an example.
My first few hours in NYC today consisted of two interesting events. It started with a fight in the LIRR train car behind the one I was in, which caused a lengthy delay while the NYPD sorted things out. The highlight was seeing one of the fighters covered in blood. The all-train ride from JFK to the city would have been great if not for the fight/delay. Cheap though, I only remember fronting $5!
Shortly after departing the train, I ran into the Puerto Rican day parade. It felt like I was in Seinfeld. Fun! I wonder what’s in store next?
I got a new phone today, the Sony Ericsson K750i. I’m a big fan of Sony Ericsson because they seem to get design more than any other handset maker (even Motorola, their OS is poor). I lost my K700i a week or two ago on a roller coaster. Lost and found didn’t work out, though I’m sure it would have been in a bunch of pieces that would have made me even more sad. I was looking for an excuse to splurge on the K750 anyway, so maybe it was my unconscious?
Back to business–it’s a gem. The camera quality is fantastic for a camera phone. It’s 2 megapixels but with the all-important auto focus. Here’s a quick test shot in my front yard.It has a memory stick duo slot (came with a 64MB card) which can be used to store tunes or other media like photos. The K750i loses points for not having a real headphone jack, just some Sony Ericsson port, but I have an iPod for tunes.
Full review on MobileTracker shortly.
