As I’m sure you know, it woudn’t be an application that’s down, rather the service. So, if you meant to ask whether AIM service was down, the answer–at least at the moment–is no.
No, regular AIM service wasn’t down, it was just service through iChat. This has happened before, I think the log-in is handled by a different set of servers (which is why from time to time third-party AIM clients go down and need to have config changes but iChat continues to work).
Anyway, this was posted a good 9-10 hours ago so the point is moot.
