RSS Update
I have found a solution to my RSS love-hate problem… Bloglines. I have come to the realization that since I am always in my browser or in my email (sometimes the email is in the browser), RSS in the browser would be easier. I loaded up my unused Bloglines account with 20-30 feeds and they are just a favorites bar click away. There isn’t notification for new items, but I really haven’t missed it. If I am 20 minutes late to reading something it is not the end of the world.
Also new from my pass on NetNewsWire, I haven’t followed Mac news much at all. I get the press releases, so I still know halfway what’s going on, but I haven’t missed hearing about a 3.2.x update of software that I don’t have.
Any other Bloglines users out there? It spanks Kinja around.
I tried a bunch of feedreaders before finding Bloglines. It is by far the best one out there. The fact that it’s browser based means I can check my feeds from basically anywhere I have access. I use it in conjunction with Furl which allows me to effciently store anything I find in Bloglines that’s worth keeping.
BTW, there new item notification is available.

I’ve been using Bloglines for six months as a supplement to NetNewsWire (when I’m on the go or at work on a PeeCee). The features rock, but for some reason the interface has always bugged me. I think its the the fat 3D menu bars.
I have downloaded the notifier for OS X and Windows, but I have settled on the Mozilla/FireFox extension. Handy.
I just started using Bloglines a few days ago and I find that I waste less time reading RSS feeds than I did with NetNewsWire. I now only have a few feeds that I want to monitor continuously (like Versiontracker) subscribed in NNW and I use Bloglines for everything else.
